When John was around there was always laughter and fun. His jokes and quick wit livened the atmosphere. It is hard to take in that we will not see him again - in this life, that is. Love and prayers for Janet, Daniel, David, Kristen and the grandchildren. So sorry that I cannot be with you at this time. With love... Cousin Barbara

Dear Janet, Daniel, Talin, David, Lyndsey, Malakai, Maddox, Kristen, Elvin, Luke & Kiwi,

Simply put, John was a good man! It is so sad that his life was taken away too soon. We have a lot of fond memories to hold on to and a few we’d like to share:
I remember when Janet and John lived in Sterling. My sister met a great guy! John was strong, handsome, disciplined and hardworking. It wasn’t too long after they married that Daniel and David arrived bringing even more joy to all of us. Remember that huge vegetable garden with lots of garlic! And, the freezer was always stocked for winter months. It was a good thing because those winters were nasty and you never knew when you might get snowed in. Roy recalls one Christmas when there was a bad snow storm. John had to put plastic on the windows and chop more firewood. John hit his thumb while splitting wood and he just taped it up and kept on working. He must have learned those survival skills in the service. John B. remembers how he taught him to play cribbage and that he was a really good card player.
There were lots of times spent at Grandma Sylvia’s too. I recall when John and Janet insulated her attic and I watched the boys. I had a horrible hang over and my punishment was chasing after those two toddlers. I gave Daniel a bottle (David’s) to stop the fussing - that was forbidden because Daniel was being weaned off it!!! I didn’t know it at the time but they could hear everything that was going on. Needless to say, I had some explaining to do and that taught me a lesson or two.
I guess it was no surprise that they would want to move to Florida to get away from winter. Shortly after Kristen was born they packed up and moved to Interlachen. Mom and I visited several times. We had fun going to the beach, Disney World, the water park and much more. John was always game for fun when he was not working. And, there was always time for Chickee Foot. The blessings continued as your family grew and beloved grandchildren arrived. I’ll never forget him serving up the homemade lasagna at Lyndsey and David’s wedding And, of course his line dancing at Kristen & Elvin’s hoedown!
Albeit too short, I think John would say “it was a good life and you are all proof of it”. As they say, he had a good run… Wish we could be there to celebrate John’s life with you. We will miss him very much.
God Bless You!
Love,
Joan, Roy & John
