Melvin W. “Tex” Keller, 87, of Palatka passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2013 at his residence.

Tex was born in Verona, Ohio and had been a resident of Palatka for the past 63 years, coming from Camden, Ohio. He served honorably in the U.S. Army Air Corps and was a veteran of World War II. He retired from Georgia Pacific Corp. in Palatka where he worked in Power and Recovery. He attended the Southside Baptist Church in Palatka and was a member of the International Brotherhood of Papermakers, Local #30 in Palatka. He was a member of the Florida Sheriff’s Association, the National Rifle Association and was a supporter of the Rodehaver Boys Ranch in Palatka. He enjoyed skeet and trap shooting, and seeing his friends at the Golden Corral.

Preceding him in death were his wife, Lila Keller; his parents, Jesse and Susie Keller; one son, Mike Keller; and one granddaughter, Christina Richard.

Surviving are his longtime companion, Norma Lou Lowe and their dog, Blue of Palatka; three sons and daughters-in-law, Meredith and Lin Keller of Tampa, Steve and Cheryll Keller of East Palatka, and Rick Keller of Palatka; one daughter and son-in-law, Karen and Donald Akins of Palatka; Norma’s children and spouse, Ricky Lowe, and Lynn and Jesse Davis, all of Palatka; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Rosie Keller of Sarasota, and Marion and Frances Keller of Middletown, Ohio; 13 grandchildren and 23 great grandchildren.
