HAROLD E. “FLIP” HITCHCOCK

Harold E. “Flip” Hitchcock, 80, of Palatka passed away following an extended illness on Friday, March 1, 2013 at his daughter’s residence in Palatka with his daughter and grandson by his side.

Flip was a native and lifelong resident of Palatka and graduated from the Putnam High School (Mellon High School) in Palatka. He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict. He was retired from the Georgia Pacific Corp. in Palatka after 37 ˝ years of service where he worked in several departments including the bag factory and finished his career in tissue converting. He was a longtime member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Palatka where he served as a Deacon. He loved to spend time with his daughter and grandson. He was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Preceding him in death were his wife of 48 years, Jean Hitchcock; his parents, Samuel and Edna Hitchcock; one brother, Sam Hitchcock; and one sister, Jackie Hartwick.

Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Debbie and Vlad Zripko of Palatka; one brother, Ralph Hitchcock of Madison; one sister, Lavonia Bradshaw of Palatka; one grandson, Jason Thornton, Jr. of Palatka; and several nieces and nephews.

Calling hours will be from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 3rd at the Masters Funeral Home in Palatka. Funeral services with military honors will be 11:00 a.m. Monday, March 4th at the Palatka Memorial Gardens with Pastor Fred Hurst officiating.
