John Stein
Henry “John” Stein, 69, of Interlachen, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, August 8, 2017 at Putnam Community Medical Center of Palatka.
John was born in Fort Monroe, VA and served in the U.S. Navy as a chef during the Vietnam war. He graduated Summa Cum Laude with his AA in Business at Schenectady Community College in 1972. He worked out of Laborers Local 214 in Oswego, NY until moving to Florida in 1988. Upon moving to FL, he owned and operated “Mighty Clean” and moved into working full time with the USPS where he retired from the Ocala office in July 2013.
John will be best known as; a devoted husband and a loving father, someone who believed in quality over quantity, and as a man who took fashion cues from no one. He enjoyed spending time with his family, cooking, and enjoying nature. John was a member of the First Baptist Church in Interlachen.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry Justus Stein and Eileen Carmen Boggess.
Surviving are his wife of 34 years, Janet A. Stein; sons, Daniel Stein and David Stein (Lyndsey); daughter, Kristen Sutton (Elvin); three grandchildren, Malakai, Maddox and Talin; a sister, Bonnie Couse (Doug); a brother, Robert Stein (Phyllis); and several nieces and nephews, including Timothy Couse and April Walker (Nolan).
The family will begin receiving friends at their residence, Saturday, August 12, 2017 at 2:00 pm. The presentation of the flag will be held at 2:30 pm. Memorial gifts may be sent to a charity of your choosing. Friends can also sign his online guestbook a www.themastersfuneralhomes.com.
