T.R. “BUDDY” WILLIAMS
Theodore R. “Buddy” Williams, 85, of Bostwick passed away Sunday, September 27, 2020 at his residence following a brief illness.
Buddy was born in southern Clay County and had been a lifelong resident of the southern Clay County and Bostwick area. He served honorably in the United States Navy. In his earlier years he co-owned and operated Williams Grocery Store in Bostwick where he cut meat. He had worked as a stone mason and had owned and operated Williams’ Plastering and Construction in Bostwick. He had also worked in this area as Superintendent for Roughton Tile Company, based in Pensacola. He enjoyed tending to his hogs and cows, along with his gardening. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and singing gospel songs, including with the Hunter Family years ago. There was a time in Buddy’s life when he turned his life over to the Lord and accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior. That is when God changed him into the wonderful Christian man that he was. He was a member of Decoy Baptist Church where he served as a Deacon and served on several committees. He also was a former member of the Putnam Cattlemen’s Association. He was a loving and dedicated family man who especially loved spending time with his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Preceding him in death were his father and step-mother, Arthur and Carrie Mae Williams; his mother, Sidney Hunter Williams; a sister, Clara Bell Tillman; a niece, Debbie Timmons Messer, and three nephews, Steve Eddy, Lance “Dud” Starke, and Joe Allen Baggs.
Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Annette Williams of Bostwick; three daughters and sons-in-law, Antoinette and Randy Deaver of Interlachen, Sindy and Jerry Hunt of Bostwick, and Gwen and Larry Taylor of Summerville, SC; a brother, Buck Williams of Bostwick; a sister, Fannie Admire of Rentz, GA; 13 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.
Calling hours will be from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 30th at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka. Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 1st at Decoy Baptist Church in Green Cove Springs with Pastor A.J. Hatfield and Pastor Barry Mathis officiating. Rev. Larry Corn and Bro. Ernie Cremer will share their thoughts about their dear friend. In honor and celebration of Buddy’s life a video tribute will be shown. The U.S. Navy will bestow military honors. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
