Asa Broughton Hudson, 78, passed from this life Sept 10, 2021 after a brief battle with cancer.

He was born Sept 2, 1943, in Avon Park Florida to James Broughton and Vernie Melvenia Hudson. He moved to Putnam County as a young man and lived here for over 50 years. He began employment at Georgia Pacific back in 1967 when it was known as Hudson Pulp & Paper and retired after 35 years of service. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle and
woodworking.

He was one of the original members of Victory Tabernacle when it was established by Rev. Ben Tippett and attended there for several years. He later attended the San Mateo Church of God and thoroughly enjoyed his time leading the congregational singing.

He was preceded in death by his parents, brother, sister and an adopted son.

He is survived by his current wife, Virginia; adopted daughter, Christina; step daughter and son in law, Pamela and Jerry Rains, all of Jamestown TN; adopted son, Travis of Palatka; step son, Barry Melton of St. Augustine; several step grandchildren & great grandchildren; his caregivers, Annette and Keith Engel and Beverly Hudson (his daughter, her husband and his first wife and mother of his children) of Hollister; daughter and son in law, Pamela and Jarod Pruitt and grandson, Jeremy Pruitt of Jacksonville, AL; brother, Edmond Hudson (Patti) of Opp, AL; several nieces and nephews; his hospice care team, Heather, who has been the family scape goat during his illness, Chaurice, Jenny, Susan, Kayla and Jakie--these folks are angels in disguise.

Viewing will be held at Masters Funeral Home in Palatka, Saturday, Sept 25, 2021 at 10 a.m. until the time of service. Funeral service will be held at the chapel at 11:00 a.m. with burial following at Oak Hill Cemetery East with Pastor Phil Wyatt and Chaplain Jakie Carmicle officiating.

Memorial donations can be made in Asa’s name to San Mateo Church of God, P.O. Box 1447, San Mateo, FL 32187 or Community Hospice of North Florida, 4266 Sunbeam Road, Jacksonville, FL 32257. The family requests that everyone please wear a facemask and practice social distancing. For those who cannot attend, the service will be live streamed at vimeo.com/mastersfuneralhome.
